Terms of service

Last updated: 2 October 2026

The short version

This shop is one person making, mending and sourcing clothes. Most of what you see here exists only once. These terms set out what you can expect from us and what we need from you — mainly that you read the listing before you buy, because almost everything here is final sale.

Nothing below takes away a right you have under law.

1. Agreeing to these terms

By browsing this store, placing an order, or ticking the box at checkout, you agree to these Terms of Service, our Refund Policy, our Shipping Policy and our Privacy Policy. Those policies are part of this agreement. If you do not agree, please do not order.

You must be at least 18, or have the permission of a parent or guardian who accepts these terms on your behalf.

2. What we sell, and what that means

We sell five kinds of thing, and the differences matter:

  • Handmade — cut and sewn by hand after you order.
  • Lingerie — handmade, and an intimate garment.
  • Vintage — sourced secondhand and sold as found.
  • Customized — a vintage piece reworked by hand.
  • Macramé and original art — made by hand, usually one of each.

Almost everything here is one of a kind. Where a listing shows a quantity of one, there is genuinely one. Putting it in your cart does not hold it. If two people check out at the same moment, the order that completes first gets the piece and we will refund the other in full, straight away.

3. Handmade means variation

Pieces are made by hand, one at a time, often from small runs of fabric. Expect small differences between a photograph and the piece that arrives: stitching, drape, placement of a pattern, and slight differences in shade between dye lots. These are characteristics of handmade work, not faults, and they are not grounds for a refund.

Screens also lie about colour. We photograph in daylight and edit as little as we can, but we cannot guarantee that a colour on your screen matches the colour in the room.

4. Vintage is sold as is

Every vintage and customized piece is pre-owned and is sold "as is". It has had a life before you. We wash, mend and steam everything before it is listed, and then we tell you the truth about it:

  • Flat measurements in inches, taken by hand, accurate to about half an inch.
  • A condition grade, and notes on anything we found.
  • A photograph of every flaw we are aware of.

Measurements are the size. The label is not. Sizing has drifted for decades and old labels are unreliable — please measure a garment you already own and compare, rather than trusting the number on the tag. We will happily re-measure anything before you buy.

Age and era are our informed estimate from construction, labels and fabric, not a certification. Where a garment is unlabelled, anything we say about its fabric is our best judgement from look and handle — it is a description, not a guarantee of fibre content. If you need to know for certain, ask before ordering and we will tell you exactly what the label does and does not say.

We cannot photograph wear we have not found. Very small marks, thinning, or a repair made by a previous owner may come to light after purchase on a garment that is decades old. That is part of buying vintage.

5. Made to order, and custom fit

Made-to-order pieces are cut after you order. The lead time on the product page starts when we have everything we need from you — including your measurements, if you are sending them.

If you send your own measurements, we cut to the numbers you give us. Please measure carefully, or ask and we will talk you through it. We cannot remake a piece free of charge because the measurements supplied were wrong, though we will always try to help.

If we are going to miss a date we have given you, we will email you before that date passes with a new date and a way to cancel for a full refund. That is set out in full in our Refund Policy and we take it seriously.

6. All sales are final — and you can still cancel

We do not accept returns or exchanges. The reasons differ by piece — one of a kind, cut for you, or an intimate garment — and each product page says which applies to it.

You can cancel for a full refund any time before a ready-to-ship order has shipped, or before cutting or alteration begins on a made-to-order or customized piece. Email us with your order number.

Final sale never covers our mistakes. If something arrives damaged, faulty, or materially different from how we described it, tell us within 3 days of delivery with photographs and we will refund or replace it. The full terms are in our Refund Policy, which governs if anything here differs from it.

7. Prices, descriptions and mistakes

Prices are in US dollars and may change at any time before you order. Sales tax is calculated at checkout.

We try to describe and price everything accurately, but we are human and occasionally something will be wrong. We may correct an error and cancel an affected order at any time before it ships, even after you have been charged, and refund you in full. We may also refuse or limit an order — for example where we suspect fraud, or where a listing has been resold in error.

8. Payment

Payment is taken at checkout through Shopify and its payment providers. We never see or store your full card details. By ordering you confirm you are entitled to use the payment method you have chosen.

9. Shipping and risk

We ship within the United States. Delivery estimates are estimates; once a parcel is with the carrier, its timing is outside our control.

Title and risk of loss pass to you when the carrier takes the parcel. If a parcel is marked delivered and you do not have it, tell us anyway — we will help you open a claim with the carrier. Full details are in our Shipping Policy.

10. Our photographs and designs

The photographs, text, designs and artwork in this store belong to us. You are welcome to screenshot and share a listing or an outfit — that is the point of it — and we would love a credit. Please do not use our photographs to sell something, to train a machine learning model, or to pass our work off as yours.

11. Anything you post

If you send us a review, a photograph or a message, you keep ownership of it, and you give us permission to show it in the store and on our social accounts, with your first name or handle. Tell us if you would rather we did not, and we will take it down. Please only post things that are yours to post, and keep it kind — we may remove anything abusive, false or infringing.

12. Using the site properly

Please do not attempt to break, overload, scrape or gain unauthorised access to this store, interfere with anyone else's use of it, or use it to do anything unlawful.

13. Disclaimer

Except where we have said otherwise in these terms or in our Refund Policy, and except for rights you have under law that cannot be excluded, everything in this store is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied. To the fullest extent permitted by law we disclaim the implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

Vintage garments in particular are decades old and have been worn before. They are sold for ordinary careful wear, and we make no promise about how long any piece will last.

Nothing here excludes liability for fraud, for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded.

14. Limit of what we owe you

To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability to you for any order is limited to the amount you paid for that order. We are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential loss — for example lost profits, or the cost of an event you bought a dress for.

Some states do not allow these limits. Where that is the case, they apply to you only as far as the law allows.

15. If something goes wrong between us

Please email us first. Almost everything is solved in one message, and we would much rather fix it than argue about it. Please give us 30 days to put it right before taking any formal step.

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute that cannot be resolved between us will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Los Angeles County, California, and we each agree to that jurisdiction. Either of us may still bring a claim in small claims court.

16. The rest

If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest still applies. If we do not enforce something straight away, we have not given up the right to enforce it later. You may not transfer your rights under these terms; we may transfer ours if the shop changes hands. These terms, together with the policies linked above, are the whole agreement between us.

We may update these terms, and the version published here is the one that applies. Changes are not retroactive — the terms in force when you ordered are the ones that govern your order.
